i m using ubuntu server 18.04 and i have openjdk-11-jre installed on the system

java not-detecting

Have you restarted the server since installing java?

here is the out put openjdk version "1.8.0212" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0212-8u212-b03-0ubuntu1.18.04.1-b03) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.212-b03, mixed mode)

If you run java -version what's the output?

Also you should use openjdk-8-jre-headless for Minecraft.
