Minecraft 1.18 - how to require clients download resource pack?

What do i need to do to force clients to download a resource pack?

I've added the URL in the server settings tab, (no hash), but I don't see any AMP setting that would set "require-resource-pack=true"

I've done that manually in server.properties, but still no joy...

It's in the Server Settings for the Minecraft instance. You can find "Require Resource Pack" to the left of "Resource Pack Prompt." If you do it manually in the server properties, it will be overwritten when you start the server in AMP.

Make sure you're on the latest version of AMP to get the new settings for this in the interface.

Hmm, I'm running 2.3.0.6 and I don't have Pack or Prompt?

2.3.0.8 is latest, but I cannot answer for when these settings were implemented. I just know that I can see them on 2.3.0.8.

Yup - thanks, updated and they're there...

But... it still doesn't work, no prompt, no install of resource pack...

If you open the server properties and the information you have filled out is there after you start the server, then AMP is doing its job correctly.

Did you check the Minecraft logs? There may be something in there that can help you further. It may be the case that the URL you are using for the resource pack is not a valid one - in other words, it needs to be a DIRECT download link to a file hosted somewhere, not a redirect.

Oh and, historically, there has been a maximum size limit for resource packs on servers. I am not sure what it is now, but sources say it used to be 50 MB.

Thanks for the help - appreciate the AMP bit must now be working... will try to figure out what else is going on :-/

If you have a web server, you could upload the resource pack there. I think Dropbox may also work if you make a share link for the file.

Did the logs say anything helpful?

Sadly not - but the resource pack is 62mb... so I suspect that's the problem. Christmas decorations :-D
