HI All,

I'm having an issue with a new/fresh install of AMP. Could you help me resolve this in combination with RUST?

  • The OS you're using and its version

Windows server 2019 Standard

  • The name and version of the Cubecoders product you are using. Make sure to specify the actual version, and not just that it's the 'latest' version.

AMP V2.0.0.0 built 10/7/2020 21:34

  • A description of the issue you are having.

It appears that AMP can't connect to the Rust RCON. Rust server has been installed as default + UMOD. The console shows some startup messages (HD textures missing etc.), but after that no messages are shown. No console messages after that nor can commands be entered.

No status is available (0%, 0/16383MB/0 players), while the server is running and actual users are connected (7 users).

  • Steps to reproduce the issue (for bugs in particular)

Create new RUST instance, start and see no new console messages nor can commands be entered.

  • What you have tried so far to resolve the issue and what happened.

Try manual connection to RCON, but password is missing. Further no technical knowledge.

  • A paste of any relevant output from the log file for a given AMP instance (where applicable).

No relevant log file is available.

  • For AMP, which application module you're using.

Does it work if you skip/remove umod?

I have almost the exact same issue. It will launch and then eventually the status either goes to 0% or picks a random percentage and never changes. Does not show if players are on. Console does not update. This happens with or without umod. I also put some plugins in the umod folder and it doesn't load those either.

I suspect this is a windows specific issue, Rust has a messed up console and AMP does some hacky workarounds to let you see the server startup process in the Console. I can turn this off but it results in less log output during startup.

will it result in being able to send commands to the console as well as starting and stopping the rust game from within the instance?

Also, do you think it would run better in a linux instance? I can nuke the server and set it up as a linux box instead.

It's always better to use Linux, and yes despite the restricted console it can still do all that. AMP uses RCON for all that, not the console.

Wiping my windows server box and moving to Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS made a huge difference. The console is still a bit sparse in its feedback when the server is starting but it has the important stuff and most importantly I am able to issue commands now. Oxide / UMOD now works as well and the plugins now load and unload as expected. Thanks again for your help.
